Hubert Kurzweil

Dr Hubert Kurzweil is probably the most knowledgeable person left at the National Botanical Institute of South Africa located at Kirstenbosch.  I originally was going to swipe some of his images that are found on a web page he designed ( with his permission ) so as to weed out the non-Disa pictures but then I decided that just giving a link to his page was not only easier, in the long run, it may also be more informative.  He is coauthor of "The Orchids of Southern Africa" and most knowledgeable about the subject.

The pictures of Hubert below were taken on our Disa cardinalis expedition to the Barrydale area.

Our driver, Donny, looks on as Hubert photographs a Disa cornuta

right: Hubert and Betsy relax by the Disa aurata Habitat.  The little yellow flowers are aurata
