John Duff

John Duff is a retired physician who retired to the town of Greyton, South Africa.  In order to keep active he has explored the mountains surrounding his town and offered to show me this outstanding Disa uniflora site, the Greyton Grotto.  He has made an extensive investigation of the area surrounding Greyton and the only place that has such a provision of flowers is in the grotto shown below.

Above is Bartholina burmanniana.

To the right is an example of Disa uniflora from the Porterville area having a stem length of about 170 cms.

Below is a picture of Greyton taken from an area that was burned the prior year.  The pink flowers are a field of Disa racemosa.
